Call 111 - When it is less urgent than 999

Test Results

Test results will only be given to the patient or to parents of minors if appropriate.

NO results are given over the phone. Patients can, however, call to ask if their results have arrived and book an appointment if necessary.

When the results arrive back, these are checked by the doctors and one of the following actions may be taken:

  1. Normal Results - No action is required; the result will be filed in patient's record - patients are not contacted as the result is normal.
  2. Minor Abnormality - e.g. low Haemoglobin or low Vitamin D etc - a prescription will be issued by the doctor checking the result. The patient will be informed by the reception staff to collect the prescription from the reception desk. Instructions for use of the medication will be relayed by the reception staff to the patient at the time of collection.
  3. Significant Abnormality - In such cases the patient will be contacted by the reception staff to book an appointment to see and discuss the results with one of the doctors. Appointments may range from same day to the following week as per the doctor's instructions.
  4. A doctor may hold a telephone consultation with the patient regarding their test results. Patients are therefore kindly requested to keep the Practice up-to-date with their landline and/or mobile telephone numbers.
